BMDAC visited the Second Hospital of Lanzhou University

The team of thoracic surgeon Professor Paul Chiasson visited the Second Hospital of Lanzhou University and received the attention of the hospital leaders and the full cooperation of the leaders of various disciplines. Not only did they have in-depth exchanges in the field of clinical medicine, but they also made corresponding plans to further train young doctors.

BMDAC visited Tai'an Central Hospital

Thoracic surgery expert Dr. Paul Chiasson led a team to Tai'an Central Hospital for academic exchanges. After three years of epidemic, Tai'an Hospital's progress in early postoperative rehabilitation amazed the guests and allowed them to see the results of their promotion of new medical concepts. From disapproval to active implementation, and becoming an indicator for evaluating hospital work in Shandong Province, Tai'an Hospital's efforts are bearing fruit. After work, visitors enjoyed exploring the great mountains and rivers of China.

Bariatric Surgery team visited China

Dr. John Hagen visited 4 Chinese hospitals, they are Taixing People Hospital, Linyi People Hospital, Luohe Central Hospital, and Changzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital. John Hagan is Chief of General Surgery at Toronto's Humber River Hospital and also Medical Director of the Bariatric Surgery Program at the University of Toronto. His clinical specialty is laparoscopic surgery and bariatric surgery. The main content of this academic activity was to visit the surgical units in these four hospitals, especially the speciality of laparoscopic surgeries in treating colorectal cancer, to talk about the achievement and potential development of using laparoscopic techniques in the treatment of colorectal cancer in China.
In every hospital we visited, Dr. Hagen had performed academic lectures, went to the operating room in person wearing surgical scrubs to provide guidance and advices during the laparoscopic surgery. He also conducted in-depth research and discussions with the chief surgeon and other surgeons, analyzing and discussing the different skills in performing laparoscopic surgery between China and Canada. Dr. Hagen also visited the surgical ward in person, talking to the patients, asking patients about their medical history and concerns, and performing physical examinations on the patients. Both the patients and their families were deeply touched by Dr. Hagen's profound knowledge, kindness and professionalism. Dr. Hagen also participated in the discussion of multiple clinical case studies with the surgeons, which had been an eye opening experience for the surgeons and their knowledge base has been greatly expanded.
During this visit in China, Dr.Hagen developed a strong interest in traditional Chinese medicine, and he had had a great experience of traditional Chinese treatment like cupping, moxibustion, and topical application of Chinese medicine paste. Dr. Hagen had approved the magical therapeutic effects of traditional Chinese medicine from his own experience.
Through this academic exchange organized by BMDAC, we witnessed the rapid development of Chinese medicine. The laparoscopic surgeries performed by Chinese surgeons had been very well done and Dr. Hagen has been so impressed by their surgical skills. In addition to that, Dr. Hagen was so impressed by Chinese people's warm welcome and hospitality to foreign friends. Dr . Hagen said that if given the opportunity, he would be more than happy to come back to this beautiful country again for an academic visit.
